With all that everyone has had thrown at them in the past 2.5 years, I took a break from adding new Modern Man men’s group cohorts. As people adjust to our new “normal” and have re-emerged back into society, I’m hearing an overwhelming request for a new cohort.
A new cohort of seven men will begin on September 28, 2022.
Modern Man was conceived after the election of 2016 and in response to masculinity in today’s society. With so much time behind us in this realm, there are certainly trends that have emerged across the cohorts. The group was designed and continues to help the participants address numerous issues involving the masculine experience, including emotional restriction, gender role expectations, toxic masculinity, vulnerability, privilege and relationships. This work is critical work to be done and what I’ve discovered is the men just needed a safe space to do the work. The overwhelming result by the courageous men who enroll is that they do all of the above while reaping the benefits of the following:
Healing from isolation and the punishment they’ve felt for deviating from traditional masculine norms
Learning how other men are enjoying their masculinity without oppression of other genders by doing their own emotional labor
Navigating cultural and political dialogue with an informed perspective and sensitivity
The men report that they feel empowered and confident as a result of doing their own emotional labor, that the work that happens in Modern Man has helped to improve their relationships with friends and partners, that they have an improved emotional vocabulary and they’re feeling relief from isolation and newly formed friendships. The majority of the men who have gone through one of the Modern Man cohorts stay connected after the 10-week program by choosing to join the closed group made up of previous participants that meets twice monthly.
It’s no surprise that there continues to be demand for this work — the same notion holds true that existed in the beginning — men want to do the work but they need a safe space to do so. Modern Man has proved to be just that space for dozens of men.
The Fall 2022 Modern Man begins Wednesday, September 28 at 7pm.
The group meets for 90 minutes every Wednesday starting at 7pm. Click the button below to schedule your initial 60-minute screening consultation and orientation. The cost of this consultation is $175. Each of the 10 sessions are $35 but a 10% discount will be applied if the full 10-week course is paid up front.
